Hey Vita fans, I wanted to let you know about a great little thing called "VitaGameNight"!
VitaGameNight is a small, but growing subreddit on Reddit with a community of people who, you guessed it!, like to play Vita games.
Just about every week there is an "Official" VitaGameNight setup by a moderator of the sub, like me, or someone else of a similar capacity, but occasionally random people will step in and make their own, which is highly encouraged.
If you're interested in joining our little community swing on by!
Introduction
Now, onto other matters. As the title said, there's a Pixelated Party and you're on the invite list, so let's get into the details of this fine event.
This VitaGameNight, as with any other, will be taking place on our IRC, where you can talk live with all your fellow gamers about what is going on.
If you want in on the fun, join in there. While the event is scheduled to begin at 5 PM EST, you're free to come in earlier or anytime you please.
Generally each VitaGameNight has headliners for an event and this is no exception.
Tomorrow we'll be playing two brand new releases for the Vita, Minecraft and Nidhogg.
Don't own these games? Don't worry. We can play other games too! You just need to show up and make it known.
In case you're interested in any of these games, here's some information written up by my friend ImmatureIntellect about both of the titles:
Minecraft
Minecraft is a sandbox construction game that involves players interacting with the game world by placing and breaking various blocks in a three dimensional environment. Players can build creative structures, creations, and artwork online with others or offline in single player in various game modes.
The first game mode is Creative which gives you the ability to fly and access to all the blocks of the world. It gives the world as a blank canvas and you are free to create anything you can imagine!
The second mode is Survival and that is a bit more involved. You have to maintain your health, via hunger, and gather supplies yourself instead of grabbing them from a menu. Your goal is to explore the world and defeat the dragon if you desire. The game is exactly what you make of it.
If this is your first time in Minecraft I highly suggest the tutorial world and reading "How to Play" in the options. It will give you all the information needed in order to enjoy the game to its maximum potential! There's also the cross-buy promotion going on if you have other sony systems to play it on. I'll link it below with some game play footage.
Nidhogg
It's a tense minimalist fun two-player fencing-fighting game that is a great hit at parties! You fight others via one vita with each player getting a half, online with the world, against the AI, or locally with multiple vitas.
There are four stages that have dynamic music created by the musician Daedelus. The songs will react with the action on screen so each match will play out to its own unique tune. It may look simple but the fighting gets intense as each player fights for the advantage! Playing this with someone in the same room is where the game really shines. Especially with people over to cheer you on! If you have a PS4 and some gaming buddies this is perfect for you. Since it's also Cross-buy it can be a great deal at 12$, PS+ price.
Important Info - Read if you plan to play!
When it comes to Minecraft please respect your fellow players and avoid any negative behavior.
The same goes for Nidhogg, please behave yourselves no matter how upset you get over a match. We don't need anyone lacking sportsmanship ruining the fun for anyone else. I don't believe this will be a problem but it's something that needed to be addressed either way.
- No interacting with anyone else's belongings without their permission first. Don't modify other people's buildings or steal items from their chests, furnances, and etc.
- If you want we'll turn on PvP, but if we do there will be no killing others without consent.
- If you are becoming a nuisance you will be ejected from the world. You can behave however you like in your own worlds but in order to accommodate everyone I ask that we play nice together. Not everyone likes complete chaos in Minecraft, there are people that like to play cooperatively.
