Review: Mouse Bounce

I discovered the Unity-made Mouse Bounce a few short weeks ago while roaming Twitter. It hadn't made its way onto the Vita yet, but had coincidentally just passed its Quality Assurance testing so it was almost ready to be released onto the store.

[Updated 10/28] Ekoro Is PlayStation Mobile Bound

As you might begin to expect from the image above our heads, Ekoro is a game that involves ROBOTS! Not only will it include robots, it'll incorporate pollution into the game as well.

This is a game about ecology, after all. According to the developer's blog, "Ekoro is drawn from the Japanese word エコロジー (Ecology)."

Ekoro was originally destined to be be a game on the iOS platform, but the Ekoro team switched gears and decided to launch the game on the PlayStation Mobile store.
.

As of this article posting there was no available release date for the game, but it had been in development for a year so the game was expected to be well on its way to seeing a timely release.

This inference was recently confirmed  by a tweet sent out by the developer in reply to this article's posting on Twitter, we now know that Ekoro has a planned release window of early 2015!

The developer will be releasing a gameplay video soon, at which time I'll update the article so you can see what its like.

Ekoro is a game mixing elements of the puzzle and tower defense genres, so it'll certainly be interesting to see how that is implemented.

If you'd like to hear more from the developers as they release information, you can follow them on the game's Twitter account, @ErokoGame.

Anyone intrigued by this game?

Ivent Games is Considering Bringing Strength of the Sword 3 to the Vita

After exchanging some tweets with the developer's official twitter account about bringing the game to the Vita, I became quite curious about how this game would be received in the Vita community.

Some games are received quite well, a la a Phoenix Force which I previously tossed up to the Vita community and will be coming to the Vita soon as a result.

Other games like Ray's The Dead have not had the same such luck in terms of support from Vita owners, so it is certain nothing is a guarantee. (That game is actually coming to the Vita, by the way. Cross-Buy with PS4!)

No matter the result, I have the platform with which to seek this information, so why not?

Better to try and fail than to not try at all.

I've looked over the game extensively in preparing this article and it seems like a quite fun and imaginative game with quite a bit of difficulty one must overcome in mastering it. I've never played it before, but I might just pick it up even if it doesn't come to the Vita. The price tag on it is certainly attractive enough.

Since its release, Strength of the Sword 3 has had a so-so reception with critics, garnering a 67/100 on Metacritic through a total of 15 reviews were submitted to the site.

This places the game as a solid playing experience and an above average game, so there could indeed be far worse games to be brought over than something like this.

At this time, Strength of the Sword 3 is an exclusive game for the PS3, but both the Vita and PC are in its sight as potential destinations depending on what turns out to be the better option when all things are considered.

If you are a PlayStation Plus Member you are currently entitled to the game for only $1, but if you aren't it'll run you a bit more at $4.99.

Given its low cost, why not give it a go up close and personal to see if its something you'd like to have on the go?

If interested in purchasing it, you can find it here on the webstore or through your PS3.

I asked if the game could by any chance become cross-buy if it made it to the Vita, obviously making picking it up now a an even more appealing option, but have not yet received a reply as of yet.

I'll update the article should I receive a reply on this matter or have any other useful information.

Strength of the Sword 3 was created by a small development of two people, Lyubomir Iliev
& Georgi Rakidov, over five years. Five. That's a long time.

You can watch the announcement trailer for the game below to get a feel for what was put into the game by these devs.

SotS3 is a "challenge-driven Sword Combat game" where "the player assumes control of a blade-toting, magic-fueled war-machine from the heavens and take on the Dark Mechanism and his minions"

You can view some gameplay in the YouTube video below.

The game has 12 stages to fight your way through featuring four different bosses you'll need to overcome as well.

Weapon and defense diversity isn't the most varied you'll find in a game, but there is a noteworthy amount of 5 weapons and 5 shields for you to try out throughout the game.

For a full list of features and a variety of screenshots of the game, you can visit Ivent Games' official website.

So, with what you know now do you want this game on the Vita, PC, or perhaps even both?

Well, make it known!

You can tweet the devs, comment on here, tell your friends, or, if you're feeling particularly ambitious, do all three.

The Circus Is Coming To Town: Ring Run Circus Gets Nod From Sony

Ring Run Circus will be making its way from the iOS App Store to the PlayStation Vita soon, according to Ciro Mondueri, a designer at Kalio, the makers of the game. Kalio Ltda.'s other works include TriDefense, an award winning tower defense game also available on the iOS App Store.

The game has currently only passed certification testing in the North American region at this time, but there is little reason to doubt that it should be held up in any other region such as Europe.
Ring Run Circus is described as a "dream world of connected circus rings" where the player will "perform as three star acrobats and solve more than 50 tricky, skill-based puzzles in the world’s first RING-FORMER."

There are approximately 55 events for you to complete which are spread across four worlds with "surprises" spread out throughout the game.

Here's the minute long trailer for the game, back when it released onto iOS.

While playing Ring Run Circus, you'll have three characters, seen below, at your disposal - Nina, Ned and Nelson. Each of whom have distinct abilities to help you progress in the game.

Due to this recently occurring, there is no word at this time about the game's launch window or pricing of the title. (For reference, it is $4.99 on iOS.).

To get more information on the game, ask questions, and to get all the latest details as the happen be it the game's official release date or something else, be sure to follow the Kalio Official Twitter account.

PlayStation Store Gets An October Flash Sale

PlayStation has announced a flash sale of games and movies through their blog earlier today.

The flash sale will run from now until October 20th (Monday) at 12:00 PM Pacific.

This event is extremely light on Vita games, featuring only one full Vita and a PSP game playable on the Vita, but that one full Vita game is one that packs an extraordinary punch being one of the most popular games on the Vita.

While the Vita game section doesn't have a lot of fluff, the video library certainly does. Five Resident Evil movies are on sale along with dozens of others.

There should be something for everybody available!

You can access the flash sale via the web store by clicking here.

Do you see anything that catches your eye?

Free-To-Play Endless Runner Run Sackboy, Run! Speeding Onto Vita This November

November is certainly the month of the PlayStation Vita Free-To-Play as Fat Princess: Piece of Cake's release window was set for the same time and Run Sackboy, Run! got the same designation today.

Run Sackboy, Run! was originally planned for an October release on all three platforms per the PlayStation Blog, but that plan fell by the wayside for reasons unbeknownst to us.

The platform-survival game has spent the last few weeks being soft released on iOS in New Zealand where some crafty people who switched their iOS accounts over got to try their hand at the game.

There is a built-in social feature where you can challenge your friends to get higher scores than you in the game.

Additionally, playing this game on any mobile device will earn you exclusive costumes for  LittleBigPlanet3, which will be playable on the PS3 and PS4.

Here's the Android/iOS GamePlay Trailer for you to get a little more information on what to expect:

Anyone looking forward to this release?

Puzzle Platformer Nihilumbra Is Making Its Way Onto The Vita

Nihilumbra, which is currently available on iOS and Steam, has been announced a short time ago to be receiving installments on several new platforms with the expected arrival window for the game's release being Winter.

In the game you take on the character of Born who is trying to escape 'The Void', where he was created. While playing you'll be able to change the ground physics of the game using colors, of which you'll have five at your disposal.

Nihilumbra features an original soundtrack made by the award winning composer Álvaro Lafuente, which if you enjoy you have a variety of options to obtain.

Here's the trailer for the game:

For more information on the game, you can go to their official website.

If you'd like to get a better feel for the game, you can play the Nihilumbra demo here.

Anyone looking forward to this game's release?

Update 10/25: Fat Princess: Piece of Cake Slated For November Release

Already on platforms such as the Google Play Store and the iOS App Store, it seems as though we're a little bit closer to seeing Fat Princess: Piece of Cake on the PlayStation Vita.

As you can see, earlier in the day Sony's Santa Monica Studio received a tweet asking about the game's availability on the Vita. To this the anticipated release window was replied.

Fat Princess: Piece of Cake is a Free-To-Play offshoot of the popular PS3 game, Fat Princess. Whereas the original Fat Princess was an "action real-time strategy" game, this new installment in the series is a "strategic match-3" game.

Downloading and playing Fat Princess: Piece of Cake has been confirmed to entitle you to the original PS3 game. There is no word yet on how it will be obtained, but on the iOS and Android platforms the code was received after playing through level 15.

You can get a look at the title's gameplay by watching a video of the game from TouchGameplay.

Anyone looking forward to this game's release?

Don't Die, Mr. Robot! Hitting The PlayStation Store Soon

It took a while as Infinite State Games had spent much of the past few months sending the game into QA and getting denied, but as of today Don't Die, Mr. Robot! has finally passed quality assurance testing for the European store and will be available there on October 29th.

Don’t Die, Mr. Robot! is described as "a fast paced arcade action game that’s big on fun and small on plot ."

It features four different game modes for you to try out:
  • Remix Mode

  • Time Attack
  • Chill Out Mode

To get a feel for the sort of gameplay this game provides, here's a Let's Play from the developer's YouTube account.

There has been no official word on the North American release date, but there is no reason to expect anything other than the 28th being that day when all is said and done.

To learn more about the game, you can visit Infinite State Games' official website.

I'm a big fan of Destiny of Spirits the turn-based, location based Free-To-Play RPG available on our beloved PlayStation Vita.
